Built in 1893 — the same year Chicago gained international fame by hosting its first dazzling World's Fair — 68 Cedar is situated along the Gold Coast, an area historically known for having deep roots as well as spectacular views. During the 1920s, this region became the lakefront’s crown jewel, and today, it remains the city’s most prestigious neighborhood, with 68 Cedar offering a rare opportunity for guests to experience Gold Coast culture like a local.

Our newly renovated basement is a shared retreat for all of Cedar’s guests. The Garden Rooms include a lounge which seats eight — equipped with a TV, puzzles, and games — plus a full kitchen and bathroom. In season, you can also enjoy using the back patio’s grill while relaxing in its Adirondack chairs. The Garden Rooms can even be reserved exclusively for private events during your stay — just ask your host for more info.
